What Does Dune: Part Three’s Popcorn Bucket Look Like?
AMC has finally released its Dune: Part Three tie-in popcorn buckets following the viral success of the previous movie’s design, which helped spark a competition for the wildest, most detailed, and most unhinged popcorn buckets, effectively launching the “Popcorn Bucket Wars.”
Following the previous bucket’s flexible silicone design and its suggestive, multi-toothed sandworm opening, the new popcorn buckets come in two designs that take the original concept even further.
Of course, the sandworms are back on top. The first design, the Double Sandworm Collectible, features two sandworm heads emerging from the top, making “it easier to share popcorn” through the two openings.
The other is the Sandworm Thumper Collectible, featuring a single sandworm and a working thumper, the device the Fremen use to summon sandworms. It even comes with a mechanism that moves up and down, making the collectible more realistic.
And the battle doesn't end there. Cinemark has also released its own Dune: Part Three popcorn bucket.
Called the Copper Sandworm popcorn bucket, it also features a sandworm emerging from the top, but without the need to reach into its gaping maw.
Regal also has its own version, inspired by the Spacing Guild Navigator, the sarcophagus-like device seen in the movie.
With each theater chain bringing its own take on the sandworm and other Dune designs, the popcorn bucket wars are far from over.
What Is Dune: Part Three About?
Based on the latter half of Frank Herbert’s second novel, Dune Messiah, Dune: Part Three will follow Paul Atreides’ (Timothée Chalamet) transformation as an Emperor, two decades after his rise to power.
This time, Paul is seen as a genocidal ruler amid a galaxy-wide holy war while being haunted by visions of the Empire’s collapse.
Old and new factions, from the Bene Gesserit and the Spacing Guild to Scytale’s (Robert Pattinson) Tleilaxu and Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh), are all plotting to break Paul’s spice monopoly and overthrow his regime.
Unfortunately, caught in the middle of the conspiracy against Paul is his concubine, Chani (Zendaya), who leads the rebellion against him as she witnesses his downfall.
Dune: Part Three is set to hit theaters on December 18.
