Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys has been a massive success, and the series has already managed to spinoff two adjacent shows being The Boys Presents: Diabolical and Gen V.

As it turns out, there are more spinoffs in the way, and one of them is centered on the world of Vought outside of America—specifically south of the border.

The Boys: Mexico Spinoff

As it turns out, there is a spinoff in the works tentatively titled The Boys: Mexico. No details have been released about the story, but it’s said that Blue Beetle writer Gareth-Dunnet-Alcocer is going to be writing the script.

The series also has some superstar producers attached including Diego Luna (Andor, Narcos: Mexico) and Gael Garcia Bernal (Coco, Mozart in the Jungle). Bernal told Variety about the project, "I'm very excited about what we can do, because we can do something very interesting in Latin America.”

When it comes to development, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke had said that it’s still in the very early stages. Talking to EW, Kripke explained, "They are still making the deal with the writer for the pilot… He has an amazing pitch, and we all giggle and think about how fun it would be. But there are a lot of hurdles for that show before it's a real show.”

Kripke also goes on to say that one of the most important aspects of the spinoff is that it’s able to stand on its own without the main. It was said that one of the main reasons Gen V was greenlit was because it didn’t need The Boys to have its own compelling world. If The Boys: Mexico wants to happen, it should meet the same criteria.

The Boys Coming to SDCC 2024

Though it’s been a while since fans have gotten any update on the Mexico spinoff, it’s possible there could be some news dropping this weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con. Kripke himself has announced on Twitter that they will be bringing the main cast of The Boys to a Hall H panel:

While fans are expecting some reveals for the upcoming final season, it should be the perfect time to also give them updates on other spinoffs. After all The Boys only has one season left, but Vought International is expecting to stay for a while via the spinoffs.

Hopefully by then Kripke can give a more detailed update on The Boys: Mexico or some other spinoffs that fans weren’t expecting. There have definitely been some calls for a prequel series featuring Soldier Boy; and it would be great if they could give a full backstory on the creation of Vought and Compound V.

They can even bring back Stormfront who, while a Nazi, was still pretty entertaining to watch. But around this time, she would have to go by her original name, Liberty.

Watch the complete fourth season of The Boys now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The final season is expected to come out in 2026.
