Captain Marvel Possibly Featured A Star-Lord Easter Egg

There are several awesome Easter eggs in Captain Marvel, like the late Stan Lee preparing for his cameo in Mallrats in the bus scene. However, one memorable sequence in the film may have been a reference to the future Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy.

A Reddit post has pointed out that one of Carol Danvers' memories shows her with a young Monica Rambeau watching a shooting star. One fan did the math (Monica is reportedly four-years-old in the memory) and suggested that the scene possibly took place in 1988, the same year when little Peter Quill has picked up by Yondu Udonta.

So is it possible that what Carol and Monica thought was a shooting star was actually the Ravager ship arriving on Earth to collect Peter? It would somehow make sense considering that Captain Marvel already has two GOTG characters Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou).

For now, Marvel has yet to confirm this. However, Captain Marvel visual effects supervisor Chris Townsend has addressed the theory and is completely impressed with it.

"I've never heard that about Peter Quill, but I love it," Townsend told the Huffington Post. "I love the fan side of what we do. I love the reactions. I love how much thought [goes into everything]. Obviously, there's a huge amount of thought that goes into it from everyone on our end making the films, but there's an amazing sort of reading into things, like the shooting star."

OK, so Townsend didn't actually confirm or deny the Easter egg but he's clearly not aware of it. Nevertheless, we're hoping that someone will eventually admit that the scene actually connects to Guardians of the Galaxy.

Captain Marvel is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
