Whether it was due to the hype of Avengers: Endgame or fans wanting a female lead in an MCU film, Captain Marvel ended up being a huge success for the studio. While the film has gotten a fairly mixed reception from fans of all genders, the box office doesn't lie so we won't be losing the character until Brie Larson's contract runs out.
To celebrate the character's first team-up with the Avengers (or to make money), Marvel has confirmed that Captain Marvel would be getting its home release sooner than expected. Fans will be able to purchase the movie digitally later this month, on May 28, while Blu-Ray collectors have to wait a bit longer since the physical release is coming out on June 11.
Carol might be a polarizing figure to fans but she definitely made an impact. Her arc was a bit unconventional in that she was uber powerful and had to learn to embrace herself rather than be held back by the various people in her life. Most fans, especially comic book ones, are used to the hero starting weak then slowly becoming stronger so they were thrown off guard, with many labeling her "boring" as a result.
It wasn't the end of the MCU though. Nice try sexists.
So, is anyone picking up Captain Marvel on Blu-Ray? Let us know in the comments below. Carol also appears in Avengers: Endgame, which is now showing in theaters.
