Jujutsu Kaisen: The Shibuya Incident Arc’s Best Fights
The sixth arc in Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen series, The Shibuya Incident, chronicles the events of the Shibuya Incident that transpired on October 31, 2018.
In this arc, the ominous alliance between cursed users and cursed spirits, masterminded by Mahito and Pseudo-Geto, finally springs into action with the intent of sealing Satoru Gojo.
Ui Ui and Mei Mei vs. Smallpox Deity
In this fierce encounter, grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer Mei Mei and her younger brother, Ui Ui, face off against the formidable Smallpox Deity, a special grade disease curse.
The battle kickstarts with the Smallpox Deity activating its Domain Expansion, resulting in Mei Mei and Ui Ui getting trapped inside a grave domain.
Mei Mei finds herself trapped in a coffin and realizes the danger of the domain.
Meanwhile, the Smallpox Deity intensifies its curse technique by uttering, “Grave”.
It causes a massive gravestone to crash onto Mei Mei’s coffin. The crash forcefully drives the coffin into the ground, seemingly crushing it. Ui Ui is terrified as the curse initiates a countdown from three.
But Mei Mei is able to escape from the coffin. The Smallpox Deity then attempts to trap her multiple times.
However, she successfully escapes each time. Meanwhile, Ui Ui’s distraction provides the opening Mei Mei needs to slice off the Smallpox Deity’s hands.
Later, out of nowhere, one of Mei Mei's birds strikes the curse from behind, delivering a lethal Bird Strike that vanquishes the curse.
Mei Mei's bird, however, also succumbs soon after, but Mei Mei and Ui Ui win this battle over the Smallpox Deity.
Yuji Itadori vs. Ko-Guy
Next up, we have Yuji Itadori's battle against the grasshopper curse, Ko-Guy, that is guarding the curtain inside Meiji-Jingumae Station B2F.
Yuji is tired of Ko-Guy’s rant about being smart. He interrupts the grasshopper and lands a head kick at the curse.
The kick is followed by a series of hits. Regaining his composure after taking severe blows, Ko-Guy taunts Yuji, suggesting he lacks intelligence.
During the battle, Yuji learns that Ko-Guy is an intelligent curse. Ko-Guy realizes that Yuji is immensely powerful and he counterattacks with several blows.
However, Yuji is able to deflect and block all of his attacks. Later, Yuji delivers a series of powerful and swift punches cornering Ko-Guy.
In a final, desperate attempt to secure victory, Ko-Guy inflates his abdomen.
Despite the grasshopper’s repeated attacks, Yuji turns out to have an upper hand in the fight.
When Yuji finds out that the curse ate humans, he channeled his anger and exorcised Ko-Guy.
Dagon vs. Toji Fushiguro
This battle is fought between the special grade cursed spirit, Dagon, and Toji Fushiguro.
At the start of the fight, Dagon dismisses Toji due to his lack of cursed energy, summoning an eel-like shikigami to deal with Toji.
However, Toji surprises Dagon by effortlessly destroying the shikigami and launching a deadly attack that heavily damages Dagon’s face, catching the cursed spirit off guard with his immense strength.
Dagon then launches another wave of attacks, and Toji skillfully breaches Dagon’s defenses, swiftly narrowing the gap between them.
Despite the curse’s attempt to employ his water shield, Toji easily shatters it with the force of Playful Cloud.
Toji is in no mood to slow down as he stacks several Playful Clouds creating a makeshift platform to propel himself into the air toward Dagon.
Dagon attempts to defend himself, but Toji ascends and thrusts the staff’s pointed end directly through Dagon’s face.
Dagon finally succumbs when Toji repeatedly stabs Dagon’s face and his domain is lifted.
Kokichi Muta (Mechamaru) vs. Mahito
Semi-grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer Kokichi Muta fights against Mahito. The battle happens at Kokichi’s hideout.
Before the battle begins, Pseudo-Geto asks Mahito if he needs help neutralizing Kokichi.
However, Mahito is confident as he swats aside multiple Mechamarus using his large hand.
He alters the forms of his soul, enlarges his right arm, and strengthens his sweeping attack with cursed energy to beat the puppets. Amid the chaos, Kokichi vanishes, leaving Mahito confused.
As the battle progresses, Kokichi emerges and uses Mechamaru Mode: Absolute launching Ultra Cannon at the opponent.
He also utilizes the Miracle Cannon to take down Mahito. However, Mahito manages to shapeshift and dodge the attack.
His face is burned from the attack and for a brief moment, Kokichi is relentless in his brutal attacks.
His strategies start working and Mahito appears to be losing the battle. But toward the end of the battle, Mahito unleashes his Domain Expansion: Self-Embodiment of Perfection.
Mahito tricks Kokichi into feeling safe before launching a series of lethal attacks that ensure Mahito’s victory.

Megumi Fushiguro vs. Toji Fushiguro
In this battle, father and son confront each other, locking in a fierce confrontation outside Shibuya station.
Megumi envisions victory against his formidable foe, triggering Rabbit Escape as Toji assumes a battle stance.
They both sense a powerful presence, and Megumi summons a swarm of rabbits to create a diversion, concerned about Sukuna.
He also calls upon Toad. However, his thoughts are interrupted as his enemy charges toward him.
Toji charges into the swarm of rabbits, slashing through them with Playful Cloud.
He dodges and surprises Toji by flipping to his feet. Megumi runs down the street with some rabbits trailing him.
Toji is able to track him down and attempts to stab him but Toad appears and rescues him. Toji soon catches up and is dangerously close to killing his son.
Suddenly, Toji’s humanity comes forth because of a faint memory of him making a deal that ensures Megumi is with the Zenin family. Toji battles his fighting instincts and asks Megumi his name.
Megumi tells him that he is Fushiguro. Toji is proud of his son, and to save him, he stabs himself in the head, killing his vessel.
Aoi Todo and Yuji Itadori vs. Mahito
Yuji and Aoi are best friends forever, but in this fight, Aoi and Yuji’s chemistry on the battlefield is off the charts.
They are facing probably the most hated villain in Jujutsu Kaisen, Mahito. This fight is epic for several reasons and Aoi and Yuji’s dynamic is probably my favorite.
Mahito gives his all and is menacingly great in terms of the tricks he uses while facing Yuji and Aoi.
Yuji is finally able to beat Mahito using Black Flash, but it is only possible due to Aoi’s motivation.
Moreover, Yuji resolves to fulfill his duty as a sorcerer. Mahito then has no choice but to retreat.

Sukuna vs. Jogo
Jogo is an arrogant yet brave character. But he is foolish enough to go after the King of Curses, Sukuna.
From the very beginning of this battle, Jogo is challenged by Sukuna. As Jogo attempts to launch an attack, Sukuna appears and cuts off his arms.
And he is not done yet, Sukuna then goes on to hit Jogo’s head with a two-handed hammer fist.
Finally, Jogo acknowledges that he can never surpass Sukuna, but it is too late.
Jogo uses his Maximum: Meteor technique in the hopes that it will do some harm, but Sukuna appears next to him without a scratch.
The battle ends with Sukuna turning Jogo into ash using flames.
Sukuna vs. Mahoraga
The Sukuna vs. Mahoraga showdown unfolds as Sukuna clashes with the uncontrollable shikigami, Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga, a part of the Ten Shadows Technique.
This epic confrontation takes place during the Shibuya Incident, where Sukuna intervenes in an exorcism ritual to ensure Megumi survives.
Mahoraga uses his Sword of Extermination against Sukuna in this fight.
Sukuna knows the power of this sword and attempts to launch as many attacks as he can.
However, Mahoraga adapts to his assault and delivers a single blow that propels Sukuna crashing through Shibuya.
After a fierce battle, Sukuna unleashes his Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine, but he also customizes it with a Binding Vow.
This allows him to create an escape route with the domain’s effective range. Eventually, Sukuna immolates Mahoraga before it can readjust and recover.
Yuji Itadori vs. Choso
The special grade Cursed Womb: Death Painting Choso is up against Yuji inside Shibuya Station.
Choso, fueled by rage, summons Convergence and forms a blood orb. He launches it at Yuji with the Piercing Blood technique.
Yuji is caught off guard by the attack and is forced to shield his head by crossing both arms.
During the attack, Yuji almost loses his left arm. Then he attempts to attack Choso with Divergent Fist using his wounded arm.
Divergent Fist pushes Choso back, creating some distance between them. During the standoff, Yuji notices his arm wound.
At that moment, Choso asks Yuji if his brothers Kechizu and Eso had any last words.
Yuji feels remorse and recalls their faces, especially Eso's, crying. At this point, Choso is fuming as he manifests a bloodlust aura.
When Yuji lands in Choso’s range, the latter unleashes Supernova, which fires three concentrated blood projectiles into Yuji’s back, causing several injuries.
Choso follows the attack with Blood Edge and stabs into Yuji’s foot. Yuji has no choice but to fight back with his wounded foot.
Later, Mechamaru advises Yuji, who is losing the battle, to trap Choso in the bathroom.
Yuji is confused but follows Mechamaru’s advice. Meanwhile, Choso thinks Yuji is digging his own grave by running into the bathroom.
But he figures that it might be a trap but walks right into it. Yuji knows that Choso is on his turf now.
Unfortunately, Choso still emerges as the stronger warrior in this battle as he finishes the battle with a powerful body blow leaving Yuji unconscious.
