Batman: Caped Crusader episode 4 may have just made a brief reference to Max Fleischer's Superman toon 1940s show in the most subtle way. And it happens right when Batman speaks his side with Gotham Gazette's frontline reporter and photographer.
Lois Lane 'Cameo' Sparks Theory: Caped Crusader is in the Same Universe as Max Fleischer's Superman
DC fans who have previously watched Max Fleischer's Superman cartoon from the 1940s may have recognized Lois Lane among the reporters in Batman: Caped Crusader episode 4.
The Lois Lane in question is surmised to be the frontline reporter holding her notepad with her signature ribbon on her head as she stands next to the Gotham Gazette reporter, Jimmy Olsen.
However, take this with a grain of salt as nothing has been confirmed yet. The showrunners have not publicly disclosed whether the theory is true. Still, fans couldn't ignore the resemblance between the two Lois Lanes uncanny, Caped Crusader's version merely had duller colors than the original.
There's a chance that Caped Crusader merely took inspiration from the classic cartoons to represent the DC animated universe. With that in mind, fans cooked up a new hypothesis: the new Batman iteration may be in the same universe as Fleischer's.
Considering that both animated shows are set in the 1940s and Caped Crusader is exploring unfamiliar territory with how the Dark Knight emerged from the shadows, there's a small chance that DC fans may be on to something.
It's nothing short of incredible to see the DC animated universe weaving stories together, even with something as simple as cameos and brief references on Prime. This would be the least Caped Crusader can do.
If anything, it adds to the looming mystery, given that there are major character changes to Penguin and the retconned romance between Batman and Batgirl on the Prime series.
For now, we would have to wait until Batman: Caped Crusader showrunner Bruce Timm speaks about it.
