What Are the New Added Scenes in Avengers: Endgame Encore?
As early as September 23, the new scenes in Avengers: Endgame Encore have been circulating online after some moviegoers allegedly recorded them during screenings.
According to the leaks, three new scenes have been added to the movie, and they all set up the big multiversal conflict waiting to unfold in Avengers: Doomsday.
These scenes include a change to Endgame's original ending. Instead of ending with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) dancing after the former Captain America returns to the past to be with the love of his life, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) reportedly shows up at their door.
This may explain Steve's return in Doomsday, as Loki, now the keeper of time and an ally of the Time Variance Authority, visits him and explains that they were never meant to live together in that timeline. As he offers to relocate them to another universe where they don't have variants, the movie appears to lead to the deaths of Doctor Doom's (Robert Downey Jr.) family.
A scene at the TVA's central control hub is also added, appearing in the middle of the credits in Encore. In the scene, Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) discovers that thousands of universes are dying during Incursions, events in which two universes collide with each other.
The last new scene features Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) after the events of his latest appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Here, the quantum mechanics professor is imprisoned in an underground facility, where he hopes to contain his alter ego, the Hulk, while continuously conducting more experiments with gamma energy.
But just as he thinks his day is going normally, Doctor Doom arrives, saying something unintelligible in the leaked footage. While it remains to be seen what he actually says, Bruce suddenly disappears, and a symbol of Latveria appears carved into the floor of his room, hinting that he may have been kidnapped by the villain.
How Do the New Avengers: Endgame Encore Scenes Connect to Avengers: Doomsday?
While there were earlier confirmations that Bruce Banner would not be part of Avengers: Doomsday, his abduction may hint at his appearance in the film.
Doctor Doom may have plans to exploit the immense power of Bruce's alter ego, the Hulk, or his tactical brilliance for global domination. However, as nothing has been confirmed yet, it remains to be seen why Doom abducts Bruce.
The new scenes also confirm the concept of the Incursions, which may work similarly to the Marvel Comics storyline “Time Runs Out,” in which one of two colliding universes will try to destroy the other to avoid being mutually annihilated. If they don't, both universes will die.
