Avengers: Doomsday will officially see the danger Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) poses following his first appearance in The Fantastic Four: First Steps mid-credits scene.

With 11 months still to go before the highly anticipated crossover hits theaters, several theories have emerged about how Doom will unleash terror across the MCU’s Multiverse Saga.

One popular theory suggests that the villain is actually targeting superheroes’ children, most notably Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal) and Sue Storm’s (Vanessa Kirby) son, Franklin Richards.

However, with Doomsday also introducing Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) baby and Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) adopted daughter as seen in trailers, Franklin may not be Doom’s only target after all.

In the comics, Doctor Doom relentlessly pursues the young Richards because of his incredible powers, which make him one of the strongest beings in the entire multiverse.

Franklin can’t just warp reality; he can also rewrite it, making him a frequent target of Doom.

However, Franklin isn’t the only super-powered child appearing in Doomsday.

As teased in the first two Doomsday trailers, Steve’s and Thor’s children are also in the movie.

The first teaser shows Steve picking up a baby, widely believed to be his child with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) after he chose to stay with her at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

The second teaser features Thor praying to the All-Fathers to help him return to his child after once again fighting and defeating another enemy.

The child Thor refers to is his adopted daughter, Love, who was resurrected by the all-powerful cosmic entity known as Eternity. He is later seen tucking her into bed as he appears to bid her goodbye.

With the appearances of these children raising questions about their roles in Doomsday, it’s clear they may have far more significant parts to play than merely serving as side characters.

Will Doctor Doom Target Super-Babies in Avengers: Doomsday?

Sure, Doom is famously targeting Franklin in the Marvel comics, but a new theory suggests that his Doomsday arc will combine his original comic lore with a fresh story.

After the events in Loki Season 2, where Loki (Tom Hiddleston) becomes the eternal God of Stories to save the Multiverse, Doom may try to stabilize the Multiverse first in Doomsday before stopping its collapse so that he can control it and ultimately remake it in his own image.

This is likely why he takes an interest in super-powered children, intending to use them as replacements to anchor beings of decaying realities under his control.

Just like Wolverine, who served as the anchor being of Earth-10005—or the collapsing Fox X-Men Universe—anchor beings are known to be immensely powerful individuals.

And there’s no question about the super abilities of these super-babies. Franklin alone possesses limitless powers, while Steve’s child is believed to have inherited his super-soldier abilities, and Love has the power of Eternity in her body, making them essential to a universe’s very fabric of reality.

With one Doomsday teaser still to come, this may finally explain the significance of these children in the movie.

Doomsday is slated to release on December 18, 2026.
