In an interview with ComicBook.com, Jake Castorena teased the potential crossover between the X-Men and the Avengers in a future season of X-Men '97.
While he didn't confirm any plans to make it happen officially, he expressed his wish to merge the two corners of the Marvel universe and believes fans would love to see it as well.
"I would love to do…[executive producer] Brad [Winderbaum] don’t hate me. But I would love [it] if we could ever build an X-Men versus Avengers crossover. I think that would just…I think as fans, we all want that."
While an X-Men and Avengers crossover idea might be in consideration, Castorena hinted that the third season, which is currently in production, will feature cameo appearances of some well-known Marvel characters.
"I will say is nothing is impossible, and we are fans ourselves. Please understand that we want to see cameos in certain characters too. I don’t think fans will be disappointed at all in Season 3," he said.
As for updates on the production of the third season, the supervising producer shared, "We have animation coming back for Season 3 all the way up until Episode 4. We got the best team in the game. So, rest assured, we’re baking that cake, man. We’re baking that cake."

The eighth episode of X-Men '97 season 2, titled "The Dead Man's Hand," opened on an unsettling note as Rogue was haunted by nightmares of an undead Gambit.
