Marvel Studios has dropped four teasers for Avengers: Doomsday, sparking excitement among fans. However, contrary to what many believe, the Russo brothers have described the teasers as “stories” and “clues,” urging viewers to “pay attention.”

With these hints in mind, fans have been quick to dissect the directors’ cryptic messages, leading to a mind-blowing theory that everything revealed in the teasers may not be entirely true.

What Do the Four Teasers Really Reveal About Avengers: Doomsday?

After the Russos’ post, many now believe the Doomsday teasers may have been altered or created solely for marketing, meaning the scenes they feature might not appear in the final film.

Some fans also noticed glitches in the countdown timer. In fact, Redditor @TheMaverickOne7 believes these glitches are secret codes:

  • Steve Rogers – 1e 24ber 02020;
  • Thor – 1e 17ber 02020;
  • X-Men – 1e 11ber 02020;
  • Wakandans & the Fantastic Four – 1e 04ber 02020.

According to the theory, these could be timestamps from Avengers: Endgame, especially since the Russo brothers have repeatedly said that Doomsday is a sequel.

If this theory is correct, the timestamps correspond to four intriguing scenes from Endgame:

Steve’s code (1 hour, 24 minutes, 20 seconds) features the Ancient One warning Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) that “millions will suffer” when discussing the risks of creating branched timelines.

Thor’s code (1 hour, 17 minutes, 20 seconds) shows Loki (Tom Hiddleston), disguised as Captain America, saying, “On my way down to coordinate search and rescue.”

The X-Men’s code (1 hour, 11 minutes, 20 seconds) captures Rocket (Sean Gunn) asking Thor, “Are you crying?”

And the final code (1 hour, 4 minutes, 20 seconds) has Rocket telling Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), “You want to go to space, puppy? I’ll take you to space.”

Taken together, these moments may hint that all four Endgame scenes are connected to the events of Doomsday.

What Do the Codes Mean for Avengers: Doomsday?

While it remains to be seen whether the glitches in the Doomsday teasers are secret codes, they may point to a deeper connection between the upcoming film and Endgame, positioning Doomsday as a direct sequel.

The Steve Rogers code could suggest that his decision to return the Infinity Stones resulted in multiple incursions and millions of deaths. Having tampered with time, the Avengers may now face the consequences, with Doomsday potentially depicting entire universes collapsing during incursions –implying that Steve’s travels triggered a multiversal breakdown.

Thor’s code, meanwhile, may relate to his return to space to save lives after his adopted daughter, Love, senses an impending crisis.

It could also imply that Steve is still in another universe, either responsible for the chaos or working to save the multiverse. Another possibility is that the teaser hints at Loki’s role in Doomsday, with his line about “coordinating search and rescue” foreshadowing his involvement in assembling the Avengers once again.

As for the X-Men, the third teaser shows Cyclops (James Marsden) in tears, paired with ominous words from Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen), and by the apparent destruction of the X-Mansion. It may be signaling death or catastrophe for the mutants.

It may also shed light on why Thor is seen crying while holding Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024).

Regarding the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four, their code may hint at the Fantastic Four arriving in Earth-616 via a spaceship, as seen in the Thunderbolts post-credits scene. They could also be joined by the Wakandans in space, or even by members of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

That said, fans are advised to take this theory with a grain of salt. Still, if any of this proves true, audiences may see it unfold when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
