While he didn't confirm his casting, he shared that he has seen the online rumors and expressed interest in working with Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and director Jake Schreier (who are also working on X-Men) again.
"It depends on what day or moment you catch me on, but right now I’d say I think I believe in Jake and Sunny so much, and I would love to work with them again, and many more times. They know that," he said.
"I try to stay away from the fodder as much as I can. So I’ve limited myself to Googling myself maybe 20 times a day instead of 50. It was really bad before."
Despite the vague answer from Melton, it still made some fans excited, as they see it as a hint that there is still a possibility that he will be playing the fan-favorite mutant, and he was just dodging the question to avoid mentioning a spoiler.
There are rumors that Marvel Studios will do a casting announcement during the D23 presentation this weekend, so fans should stay tuned on whether we will see a confirmation of Melton's involvement.

Last year, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige gave a tease on what fans should expect from their reboot of the X-Men property.
"We had a great experience with him on Thunderbolts*. And if you saw that movie, what he did with those character interactions, he also has his pulse on, shall we say, a younger demographic," he said.
"He’s younger than me for sure, but he’s tapped into that in a way that I think was important for Thunderbolts*, much more important for X-Men. Because X-Men, as it was in the comics, will be a very youth-oriented, focused, and cast movie."
