Zendaya and Robert Pattinson surprised everyone when their engagement announcement appeared in The Boston Globe newspaper. But as it quickly caught the public’s attention, it turned out to be just a playful tease for their upcoming A24 movie The Drama.
Fans who aren’t yet familiar with the film were immediately intrigued by their first collaboration. So, here’s everything you need to know about The Drama.
What is The Drama About?
Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, The Drama follows the engaged couple Emma Harwood (Zendaya), a bookstore clerk from Louisiana, and Charlie Thompson (Robert Pattinson), a museum director from London.
Their relationship is put to the test when one of them discovers “unsettling truths about the other” just days before their wedding. So, will the nuptials push through, or will they end up ending their romance?
Who are the Cast of The Drama?
In addition to Zendaya and Pattinson, Alana Haim also joins The Drama alongside Mamadou Athie (Jurassic World: Dominion) and Michael Abbott Jr. (Killers of the Flower Moon).
The cast also includes Sydney Lemmon (Succession) and Hailey Gates (Challengers), though their roles have yet to be revealed.

Where is The Drama Filmed?
The Drama was filmed in the UK and Boston, Massachusetts. Principal photography started on October 21, 2024, in the UK, followed by additional filming locations in Boston.
While the total cost of production hasn’t been revealed yet, it reportedly spent $2.9 million to shoot in Louisiana. Filming concluded over a year ago, on December 12, 2024, and the movie will soon be released.
Is There a Trailer for The Drama?
Yes, A24 has released the official trailer for The Drama, showing an awkward moment between the soon-to-be-wed Emma and Charlie.
It begins with the two preparing for a photoshoot before their wedding, but the photographer senses “some nerves” in their unusual interaction. She then tries her best to bring them together, posing them next to each other against a gray backdrop and asking them to smile as they would in real life.
As the photographer asks about their favorite things about one another, a montage of their daily lives plays on the screen, with both having nothing but kind words for each other.
However, when the photographer says, “Remember, you know each other really well,” things take a darker turn. An alarm blares in a dimly lit entryway, Charlie throws a chair, and when asked what’s happening, he simply says, “Just some drama,” while Emma later drinks from a bottle of liquor, ahead of their wedding.
Also, the studio released a playful teaser in The Boston Globe newspaper, featuring a mock engagement announcement that revealed the movie’s plot details and character information.
The editors of the publication are said to have received a request from A24 to hold their daily TV Critic’s Corner column so an advertisement could run next to the newspaper’s romance advice section, Love Letters.
There, a photo of Zendaya and Pattinson was featured, with the Dune star showing off her huge diamond ring while sitting on the Twilight actor’s lap, who is seen hugging her.
It reads:
A source said the Globe agreed to host the fake notice because the movie is set in Boston and was also filmed there.
The Drama is set to be released on April 3, 2026.
