Did Blake Lively Congratulate Taylor Swift on Her Engagement to Travis Kelce?
Taylor and Blake used to be the closest of friends. Their friendship began in 2015, and they were often spotted together—with the 38-year-old star even accompanying the multi-Grammy Award winner to watch Travis’ game in New York City in October 2023.
The pop icon is even the godmother of the actress’ three daughters, James, Inez, and Betty, whom she shares with Ryan Reynolds.
However, after Taylor’s name was dragged into Blake’s highly publicized legal battle over an alleged sexual harassment incident with Justin Baldoni on the set of their 2024 movie It Ends with Us, the duo reportedly had a fallout.
As a result, Blake has allegedly not congratulated Taylor on her engagement to Travis.
“Blake didn’t reach out [following the engagement announcement] and isn’t going to,” a source told Daily Mail. “This isn’t the time. What would be the point of reaching out now? It really makes no sense. [Lively] has bigger fish to fry.”
By the looks of it, the insider is referring to Justin. The tipster also revealed that the Gossip Girl alum doesn’t even “talk about Taylor at all.” She no longer reflects on their friendship since it fell apart.
“This is something that we would’ve talked about in the past—like what was going to happen, if she was going to be in the wedding, what that would look like. All of that. But now, it’s just silence,” the source continued. “There’s no ‘will she or won’t she’ about Blake being in the wedding, because she just won’t. She knows that, and I don’t think she particularly wants to talk about it.”
With that being said, Blake is allegedly not “obsessing over Taylor getting engaged,” as she has “her own life to focus on.”
How Did Blake Lively and Taylor Swift End Their Friendship?
Amid Blake’s legal battle against Justin, the Another Simple Favor star’s friendship with Taylor has reportedly ended after the singer-songwriter received a subpoena from Justin’s legal team.
“Their friendship has halted,” a different source told People. “Taylor wants no part in this drama.”
Allegedly, the 35-year-old hitmaker was “really hurt” after being dragged into Blake’s legal dispute. A complaint Justin filed in January revealed that the mother of four referred to Taylor as one of her “dragons” in an alleged text exchange.
This reportedly “fractured” the “fragile peace” between Taylor and Blake. With that being said, there are claims that the song “Ruin the Friendship” on Taylor’s upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, will allude to their broken bond, as the two are no longer on speaking terms.
So, while neither has publicly addressed their doomed friendship, Blake’s silence—and her decision not to congratulate Taylor on one of the biggest moments of her life—speaks volumes about where they currently stand.
