Former X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo has denied the allegations of egregious misconduct that were made against him regarding his firing from the series.
Before the series premiered last March, he was notably fired by Marvel Studios to the surprise of many fans. Around that time, no reasons were given for why he was let go from the project.
The issue surfaced again a few weeks ago as DeMayo claimed that he was stripped of his credit for X-Men '97 season 2 due to the gay pride-themed X-Men fan art he posted on Instagram.
Marvel responded to the writer's claims soon after. They disputed the claims and revealed that he was fired following an "egregious nature" of their findings in an internal investigation.
Beau DeMayo Denies Allegations of Egregious Misconduct
DeMayo recently addressed the allegations of "egregious misconduct" that were made against him regarding his firing from X-Men '97. He denied the claims and called the rumors regarding him as "lies."
"The allegations of egregious misconduct are false, the rumors being spread around me online are lies," he said.
The former X-Men '97 showrunner has also created an OnlyFans page where he will share "the whole truth" regarding his situation with Marvel.
Fans who might be interested to hear DeMayo's words would need to subscribe for $9.99 monthly as his posts will be marked as exclusive content.
So far, Marvel Studios has not commented on the former showrunner's denial of the misconduct allegations.
In a statement that was released weeks ago, a spokesperson from Marvel explained that findings in an internal investigation led to DeMayo's firing.
"Mr. DeMayo was terminated in March 2024 following an internal investigation. Given the egregious nature of the findings, we severed ties with him immediately, and he has no further affiliation with Marvel," the spokesperson said.
While Marvel's comments did not specifically say what the "egregious" finding was, reports have claimed that it involved "sexual misconduct."
DeMayo's lawyer Bryan Freedman hit back as they accused Disney of "gaslighting" and suggested that they might take legal action regarding the situation.
