Marvel Television has dropped a first look at the highly anticipated X-Men ’97 Season 3 at New York Comic Con, teasing the arrival of Deadpool, several other Marvel heroes, and a major mutant wedding between Gambit and Rogue.
The hit animated series has been renewed for a third and fourth season following the success of its debut season, which achieved a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
With a planned yearly release schedule, what can fans expect from the upcoming X-Men ’97 Season 3?
What to Expect From X-Men ‘97 Season 3?

The new X-Men ’97 Season 3 footage shown at NYCC offers several teases and reveals the arrival of more characters, including the Brotherhood of Mutants, a major part of X-Men lore.
Known as one of the X-Men’s major adversaries, the Brotherhood’s appearance was set up in the series’ second season finale after Mystique appeared in the mid-credits scene, where she ambushed and replaced Val Cooper to infiltrate the US government.
With this hint, the Brotherhood is set to take center stage in the upcoming season, with Mystique taking the lead following Magneto’s death, alongside Toad, Blob, Pyro, Avalanche, and Surge.
Elsewhere, the clip also features Namor, She-Hulk, and Deadpool, while wedding bells ring as Gambit and Rogue finally appear to be getting married after everything they have gone through in the first two seasons.
Deadpool and She-Hulk are seen attending the mutant wedding (via ComicBook). However, while major cameos like these have often involved Morph taking their forms in previous seasons, their appearance together could hint at their actual arrival in the series.
“We’re hard at work on the third season, and it’s incredible,” Marvel Studios Head of Streaming, Television and Animation Brad Winderbaum teased at Marvel’s NYCC panel. “I mean, I’m actually getting choked up thinking about one of the episodes right now.”
What Is X-Men ‘97 Season 3 About?

After the chaotic political and social aftermath of the previous season’s finale, the mutant oppression continues in X-Men ’97 Season 3.
Cities have gone into lockdown, borders are closed, and strict letters of transit are required to travel amid escalating anti-mutant crackdowns and a shifting power landscape.
As also teased in the NYCC footage, mutants cannot reach Professor X’s school and have nowhere to stay until they obtain the necessary letters.
The anti-mutant politician Graydon Creed has taken office as US President, showing his support for state-sponsored Sentinels painted in patriotic American flag colors.
These threats will be coupled with the return of Reverend William Stryker and the anti-mutant paramilitary group the Purifiers, while the Brotherhood of Mutants attempts to manipulate the government from within.
With multiple anti-mutant forces closing in from all sides, Season 3 looks set to push the X-Men into one of their most challenging battles for survival and mutant freedom yet.
