WWE Superstars Dress Up as DC and Marvel Characters During a Wrestling-Filled Weekend

Fans have always claimed that watching wrestling is very similar to comic books, so naturally, it's not too surprising to see wrestlers from various promotions dress up as their favorite hero or villain. In fact, last weekend featured has two WWE superstars cosplay fan-favorites from Marvel and DC, wearing their geekiness with pride while kicking ass in a scripted but entertaining manner.

Johnny Gargano was the first WWE superstar to show his geek colors, dressing up as Wolverine during his epic NXT Championship match in NXT Takeover: Toronto, where he took on rival Adam Cole of The Undisputed Era. Despite the awesome vest that evokes the ‘90s X-Men, Gargano ended up losing this match to Cole and failed to win the NXT Championship. However, like the Canadian X-Man, he got a ton of love for his effort and will likely move to the main roster in the future.

Speaking of the main roster, Ricochet showed off his love for Nightwing during WWE SummerSlam by wearing a hooded attire similar to the former Robin. The fact that it was all black, covered his body, and had the bluebird symbol in his chest was a giveaway. In ways, Ricochet does feel like watching Dick Grayson in action, thanks to his unparalleled athletics and calm personality.

Both superstars have shown their comic book love before. Gargano has dressed up as Captain Marvel, Thor, Iron Man, Venom, and others in previous NXT Takeover shows. Ricochet also wore a hooded attire similar to Miles Morales before, the Spider-Man who wowed audiences during last year's amazing Into the Spider-Verse.
