Maisie Williams has expressed interest in joining the MCU’s upcoming X-Men reboot and reprising her role as Wolfsbane from The New Mutants.

As their story continues to take shape in the franchise, could fans see Williams return as Rahne Sinclair, aka Wolfsbane, in the X-Men reboot?

Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane in The New Mutants

Famous for her role as Arya Stark in Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams joined the superhero universe when she appeared as Wolfsbane in the Fox spinoff film The New Mutants.

However, the movie is considered a box-office bomb, grossing just a little over $49 million against its estimated $67–80 million budget.

But it’s also worth noting that the film was released during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when many theaters worldwide were closed or operating under strict capacity limits.

With that said, Maisie was hoping she could get another chance to play the mutant again in some capacity.

“We've got to bring that back. Maybe it'll be 28 years after the first, but I think we should,” she told ScreenRant.

When asked if no one had talked to her about it yet, she said, “I know! [Let's] get them on the line. What's the deal?”

Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane in The New Mutants

While Maisie Williams revealed that no one from Marvel Studios has contacted her yet, there is still a chance for her character, Wolfsbane, to join the MCU.

In fact, it could even happen before the X-Men reboot, as multiple mutants from Fox’s universe have made appearances in the Multiverse Saga, thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine, which established a link between the previous franchise and the mainline MCU.

However, there is also a chance that she could be part of the reboot if the studio recasts the role or brings Williams back.

Rahne Sinclair has been a longtime member of the X-Men in the comics, so she could easily be introduced alongside other established mutants as Marvel expands the team.

If that happens, Williams could return as an alternate-universe version of Wolfsbane, especially given the MCU’s established use of the multiverse if it acknowledges The New Mutants.

Wolfsbane is not part of the main X-Men team. Instead, she is part of the broader X-Men family and secondary spinoff teams, so it remains to be seen whether she will make it to the MCU, as the character may not be a priority for the studio.
