Bridgerton Season 2 might have only aired recently, but fans of the period drama are already bracing themselves for another season - which had, thankfully, been confirmed. But will the forthcoming Bridgerton Season start a pattern of the previous season's love interest disappearing, or will Kate return for Bridgerton Season 3?

Bridgerton is a Netflix period drama set against the backdrop of England's Regency era - a popular period that is often chosen by modern romance writers, largely due to the legacy of authors such as Jane Austen.

Without spoiling much - if such a thing can be done in indulgent romances - the show follows the eight Bridgerton siblings as they each find love. Every season is based on one book by Julia Quinn, and focuses on a specific sibling and their love interest.

This is not a show you watch if you're keen on historical accuracy as Bridgerton is set in a largely reimagined world, but the series is still fun and has a very dedicated fanbase.

While not without its problematic aspects, Bridgerton proved to be an ideal watch for many during the 2020 lockdown, as it offered fun and escapism - and the habit apparently stuck, given that the second season became even more popular!

Given this momentum, it came as no surprise that Bridgerton Season 3 had already been confirmed, even before the second season started airing. But, with the romantic loose ends tied for two of the Bridgertons, who will the new season be about?

Will Kate Return in Bridgerton Season 3?

Simone Ashley, who plays Kate Sharma, has teased that Kate will most likely return for Season 3.

The second season of the romantic show was based on Quinn's book The Viscount Who Loved Me and focused on Anthony, the eldest Bridgerton sibling, and his romance with Kate Sharma.

Simon, the Duke of Hastings, who was Daphne's love interest in Season 1 did not return for Season 2, though this is most likely associated with Regé-Jean Page's choice to only commit to Bridgerton for one season and then focus on other projects.

Kate, on the other hand, has now married into the titular Brigerton family, so it would be a bit harder to explain her absence. Both Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony, and Simone Ashley, pointed out in a March 2022 interview that they would be interested in returning for Season 3.

Both actors mentioned that their relationship could be further developed in future seasons. Of course, they cannot be the main focus, as Bridgerton is essentially an anthology series, with a different main couple each season.

While we wait to find out about which sibling Bridgerton Season 3 will be, many fans would love to see the couple return.
