As a gory member of the dark trio of shounen anime, Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku kills off many named characters. So, who dies and who survives in Hell's Paradise?
Attention: There are manga spoilers below!

Does Gabimaru Live or Die?
Gabimaru's is one of the most major character arcs, as he goes from a presumably emotionless ninja to a driven individual prepared to do anything to return to his wife.
Of course, Gabimaru isn't immortal as such.
As a fantasy anime, Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku has him survive impossible situations, especially at the beginning when every attempt to execute him fails.
This goes on to show Gabimaru's firm resolve to go home to Yui. It doesn't mean that the story never has us worry about him, however.
Gabimaru nearly dies before leaving the island, but Sagiri saves him.
The near-death scene doesn't surprise us, in retrospect. It ensures that Gabimaru's happy ending feels earned.
Does Sagiri Live or Die?
Sagiri survives the island ordeal and, frankly, it would be a crime if she didn't.
Much of Sagiri's character arc centers around her growing comfortable in her Asaemon role and balancing the toughness that the job requires with her compassionate personality.
By the end of the manga, it's implied that she will have further adventures as she travels to hone her skills and gain experience.
Who Dies in Hell's Paradise?
Hell's Paradise follows a large party of executioners and convicts on their quest on a deadly island.
Only one convict can survive, and while the characters end up finding a way around this, a few of them still die.
Yamada Asaemon Tenza
Among the Asaemons, Tenza dies early on.
While his character arc is short, fans were already attached to him due to his care for Nurugai, the young prisoner he was in charge of.
Tenza had resolved to save Nurugai whether or not she ended up finding the Elixir.
To make matters sadder, he dies in front of her and his mentor, Shion.
Yamada Asaemon Fuchi
Fuchi's death is among those that stayed with manga fans the most. His end perfectly showcases his character.
Since Fuchi dies later on, the audience has spent more time with him before witnessing his end.
To make matters even more moving, Fuchi spends his last moments defending the prisoner he was assigned, against his friend and superior, Yamada Asaemon Shugen.
Unlike other Asaemons, Fuchi didn't always get along with his prisoner, Tamiya, so dying to save him shows a selfless side that surprised some readers.
Yamada Asaemon Senta
Senta's death might not be as impactful for the plot as others, but it's still quite sad to see him go.
Before succumbing to the deadly effects of the island's flowers, Senta is able to help Shion defeat a major enemy.
Yuzuriha's attempts to make Senta's passing as easy as possible make his death scene particularly moving.
So, Who Survives the Events of Hell's Paradise?
Given Jigokuraku's dark themes and reputation as the potential next big anime after Chainsaw Man, a surprising number of supporting characters survive.
Yuzuriha
Yuzuriha, one of Gabimaru and Sagiri's first friends and allies, survives the island and manages to escape.
A year later, she's Sagiri's self-appointed bodyguard and the two travel together.
Shion and Nurugai
While Shion insists that he will not become Nurugai's teacher, he continues taking care of her after the death of her appointed Asamon, his pupil Tenza.
In the epilogue, Nurugai and Shion set off in search of the latter's tribe.
The Bandit Brothers
Chobei and Toma both survive, though the former is much changed from their ordeal on the island -- regenerating from nothing does that to a person.
The epilogue shows the brothers in Hong Kong where they presumably immigrated to seek their fortunes.
Tamiya
As far as the shogunate is concerned, Tamiya is the only convict who survived the island.
The surviving Asaemons and remaining prisoners agree to let Tamiya present as the only survivor and obtain the pardon.
The remaining convicts escape to uncertain but ultimately fulfilling futures.
Yui
Gabimaru's wife, the only important character not to be on the island, also survives.
Despite allegations that Gabimaru's wife doesn't exist, Yui ends up being alive and well.
In the end, she and Gabimaru get to reunite and live happily together.
