After two decades, Quentin Tarantino is finally unveiling the "lost chapter" in the Kill Bill saga in an animated short titled "Yuki's Revenge." But where can fans watch it?
The Kill Bill franchise was back on the scene recently, as there are plans to re-release the entire two-film saga in an exclusive limited theatrical run this month. Not only that, the long-lost chapter titled "Yuki's Revenge" will finally see the light through an animated short film. It was originally cut from the movie due to budgetary and length issues.
Where Can You Watch the Kill Bill "The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge" Animated Short?
Fans can already watch the Kill Bill animated short "The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge" in Fortnite, where it was recently released. The project was made in collaboration between Tarantino and Epic Games.
However, if you're not a Fortnite user, you can still find a way to watch the short film since it will also be included in the upcoming theatrical run of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair this December 5.
Tarantino directed and wrote the animated short film in collaboration with The Third Floor. The "lost chapter" focuses on the vengeful fight of Gogo Yubari's sister, Yuki, against The Bride. Uma Thurman reprised the iconic role in both voice acting and motion-capture.
It is unknown yet whether the animated short will be available on other platforms, such as a new physical media release of Kill Bill, sometime later, but fans are happy that the long-lost chapter will finally come to life after two decades.
Why Quentin Tarantino Decided to Finally Make the Lost Kill Bill Chapter
Speaking recently at a special launch event in the Visa Theater (via Variety), Tarantino explained how he collaborated with Epic Games and Fortnite to work on the "lost chapter" of Kill Bill.
"They got together with me to talk about some situation where my characters do something kind of groovy. So I show up at the meeting thinking that we’re just going to talk about that they want to license the characters, and they want to get my ideas about what will be a fun thing to do," he said.
However, as it turns out, Epic Games was interested in doing an 8-12 minute content "that could be good for our purposes and make sure your iconic characters are wrapped up inside this."
Tarantino came up with a chapter of Kill Bill that "never even made second drafts," and it was cut from the movie due to being "too crazy, too violent, and just too much action."
"I actually thought maybe the ship had sailed as far as, like doing new material. I was wrong. When I wrote the first draft of the script, there was a lost chapter that, frankly, I just didn’t think we could pull off. And Yuki has been a figment of my imagination for over 20 years," he said.
