Spider-Man: Brand New Day Footage Unveils First Look at Tombstone

New footage from Spider-Man: Brand New Day is making rounds online, which shows us our first sneak peek at the appearance of Tombstone.

Just as we may have suspected, Marvin Jones III will have a comic-accurate look in his portrayal of the fan-favorite villain. He boasts chalk-white skin, sharpened teeth, and an imposing muscular build.

The short clip featured the colossal antagonist clutching a bruised Spider-Man by the throat atop an open beam high above the skyline, directly echoing the cover of The Spectacular Spider-Man #142 where Tombstone grabs the beaten hero on a scaffolding ledge.

While the footage only lasts a few seconds, it is an exciting look for fans who have been looking forward to seeing what Tombstone will look like in the film and how similar his design will be to the comics.

In case you're not familiar with the character, Tombstone is a prominent New York underworld kingpin who frequently clashes with Spider-Man and Daredevil in the comics, typically depicted as an imposing albino mobster with sharpened teeth.

It remains to be seen whether Tombstone will have a longer screen time or if he will just be a minor appearance, but nevertheless, it is exciting that he is finally in the MCU.

What to Expect in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will mark an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves.

Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he's devoted himself entirely to protecting his city, a full-time Spider-Man, but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.

The main cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Mark Ruffalo, and Liza Colon-Zayas.

The film is set to release in theaters on July 31. It will also be available on IMAX in select international markets.
