Introducing 3 Body Problem's DX3096 Star, Why Did Will Buy It?
In Netflix's adaptation of 3 Body Problem, Will reveals that he bought DX3096, a star worth £19,5 million.
Will asks Saul not to tell Jin that he purchased the star's title deed for Jin.
Will, Saul, and Jin are all members of the Oxford Five, an elite group hand-picked by Oxford University Physics Professor Vera Y3 (Vedette Lim).
Jin (Jess Hong) is particularly interested in uncovering the secrets of the universe, and she's the group's natural leader.
As for Will (Alex Sharp), he's a humble researcher who worries that his contributions don't add significant value to the Oxford Five's activities.
Will discovers that he has stage 4 cancer and his health deteriorates throughout the series.
Purchasing the star for Jin is his way of showing his care for her in an indirect way before dying.
What Is DX3096's Role in the 3 Body Problem Book Triogy?
The Netflix TV series did not invent the DX3096 star Will bought for Jin.
While the book trilogy doesn't feature these particular characters interacting with the star, a similar scenario happens in the third book of the series, Death's End.
