What does Daemon's vision of Daenerys mean? House of the Dragon fans couldn't resist the callback to the flagship franchise Game of Thrones as the image of the Mother of Dragons emerged.
But what does this mean in the context of the spinoff's season 2 finale?
SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for House of the Dragon season 2's finale, so proceed with caution.
House of the Dragon Season 2 Finale Foreshadows the Apocalypse
House of the Dragon season 2 just made Daemon Targaryen's visions everyone's problem by confirming they're a lot like prophecies. From roaming the halls of Harrenhal to the biggest Game of Thrones easter egg (literally!), here's what the prequel series has revealed so far.
The latest vision comes from the season 2 finale, titled The Queen Who Ever Was, where Daemon dreams of the apocalypse that will unfold in Game of Thrones.
White Walkers, the existence of the Three-Eyed Raven, but most crucial of all — a cameo of Daenerys Targaryen looking as if she's giving birth to three dragons after centuries of seemingly being extinct for some time.
The scene, while new, fits into the story at the end of GOT season 1, after Daenerys has been burned and her gifted dragon eggs hatched, giving birth to Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion.
The novel Fire & Blood suggests a vision preceding the so-called "red comet" will reveal the identity of the "Prince That Was Promised". In this case, that seems to be Daenerys carrying the three newborn dragons in her arms, appearing to establish she is the destined savior of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.
It is also worth mentioning that a similar premonition is what led Daemon to ultimately support his Queen Rhaenyra by bending his knee and stepping away from his pride for once.
Had he not chosen to heed this warning from the future, Westeros would have been doomed with no Targaryen savior and no dragons being reborn during the events of Game of Thrones.
