There is little doubt that House of the Dragon still gets compared to Game of Thrones but there have only been a few direct connections between the shows. The biggest one so far has been the reemergence of the catspaw dagger used by Arya Stark in the original series. However, the latest Easter egg is even bigger than that as it connects the prequel to Daenerys Targaryen's dragons!
In House of the Dragon Episode 6, Aemond Targaryen is presented with a pig by his brother Aegon II and nephews Jacaerys and Lucerys Velaryon, an alternative for Aemond not having a dragon of his own. The frustrated Aemond descends deeper into the dragonpit to try and claim the chained dragon Dreamfyre, who breathes fire at him.
Luckily, the prince survived but fans are loving the appearance of Dreamfyre, who laid the eggs that would eventually be presented to Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. That means viewers just met the real mother of Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion.
But how did Dreamfyre's eggs end up with Daenerys? It is believed that the petrified eggs were the same ones stolen by Elissa Farman when she was the lover of Rhaena Targaryen, who once rode the dragon. Elissa sold the eggs in Braavos and they somehow ended up with Illyrio Mopatis, who would present the eggs to Dany at her wedding to Khal Drogo.
It's great to see Dreamfyre in House of the Dragon and there is little doubt that she will return in future episodes. After all, one of the Targaryens is set to claim her and we can't wait to see her in action again soon.
The latest episode of House of the Dragon is now available on HBO Max. House of the Dragon Episode 7 is titled Driftmark and is set to premiere on HBO on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 9:00 PM EST.
