The film adaptation of Uncharted became a box-office success when it was released in theaters in early 2022 despite the middling reviews from critics and criticisms of its deviation from the source material.

While Sony has indicated that they are planning for it to be a major franchise, they still have not announced a sequel which seems to be inevitable given its box office numbers and solid audience scores.

The mid-credits scene of the film also teased the potential storyline that the sequel could explore if they decided to move forward.

Fans have been patiently waiting for news surrounding a potential sequel and there are hopes that it could happen soon, especially as Tom Holland is becoming busier.

Now, we finally have an exciting update from one of the stars of the film which suggests that a sequel could happen soon.

In an interview with The Direct, Mark Wahlberg, who plays Sully, was asked whether a sequel to Uncharted is already in the works.

The actor confirmed that a script is currently in the works and they are already figuring out the story, including his wearing of mustache which was hinted at the mid-credits scene.

"I've heard lots of different ideas. I know somebody's written a script, and they're still working on it, and it would consist of having the mustache the whole entire time. Which completely makes sense; obviously, in that final scene, I have the mustache," he shared.

Wahlberg went on to share that he tried to grow a mustache during the making of the first film in preparation for the mid-credits scene.

Then, he concluded by expressing his interest in returning to the sequel and hoping that it would be better than the first.

"When I finally got the mustache, people really appreciated it. And it was a nice tag to the end of that film. So if we can make it better than the first, you know, I'd be open to it, but I only know as much as you do right now," the actor said.

This is an exciting update for fans who have been looking forward to the sequel as it confirms that it is in the works and they are figuring out a way to make it happen.

Since the first film was a hit financially and the IP is still dominant in the video game world, it is a no-brainer for Sony to develop a sequel and it is a matter of time whether they can get the right script that could make anyone involved happy.

For now, let's wait and see for any updates surrounding the potential sequel.
