Netflix is officially back filming The Witcher seasons 4 and 5 after teasing our first look at the new Geralt of Rivia, Liam Hemsworth. Here is everything you need to know about the release date for The Witcher season 4.

On April 18, the streamer announced that The Witcher season 4 begun production in the UK. Ahead of season 4's premiere, though, Netflix has also greenlit season 5 of the series, which will film back-to-back with season 4.

But before we close our final chapter of The Witcher, check out when season 4 hits on Netflix.

When Does The Witcher Season 4 Return on Netflix?

Netflix has recently unveiled our first official look at The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia, as production for The Witcher season 4 began in April.

This includes "back-to-back" filming of a fifth and final season, completing the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's novel series.

Unfortunately, we don't have any confirmation yet on when The Witcher season 4 will be released on Netflix.

However, considering that seasons 2 and 3 didn't take a year to wrap up filming, season 4 could finish production by Christmas or perhaps in early 2025.

Potential Issues The Witcher Season 4 May Face

Apart from the potential scheduling conflicts as well as inevitable filming and production issues, The Witcher fans have mostly been concerned about the direction the Netflix series is heading and of course, the replacement of Henry Cavill from the main role.

Cavill and the showrunners previously explained that they had to go their separate ways due to "creative differences." As much as Cavill wanted to show his knowledge on how to adapt the game series right, The Witcher creators had a different plan in mind.

"We had the choice to have Geralt exit and to end the show, [but] that's not something that we were willing to do," said showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, which eventually led to welcoming Hemsworth to replace the titular character.

The Witcher seasons 4 and 5 are set to cover Sapkowski's three remaining books: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.

Geralt, Ciri (played by Freya Allan), and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) have been separated yet again at the end of season 3.

While Geralt is in the middle of recovery, he finds out that his daughter Ciri has been captured by the emperor of Nilfgaard, prompting him to do what he must to save her once more.

However, little did he know that the real Ciri had been going on an adventure on her own.

Yennefer, on the other hand, is left to deal with the aftermath of Vilgefortz's betrayal as she mourns the death of her mentor/mother figure, Tissaia (MyAnna Buring).
