The Witcher Season 2 is one of exploration for Ciri. Already from Season 1 of Netflix's fantasy tv show, it was clear that the princess of Cintra had a gift for magic that could potentially put all around her in danger if left uncultivated. Being on the run throughout the first season, with no constant or reliable allies gave her little time to explore her powers. How will her powers develop in The Witcher Season 3?

Ciri's fateful encounter with Geralt changed that. By the end of the second season, she has not one, but two parental figures; a witcher and a sorceress. That being the case, Season 3 might focus on her journey learning how to use magic. Her powers, however, also mean that she's much sought-after by enemies and even her own family. So, what are Ciri's powers?

Early on in Season 1, we saw that Ciri's screaming when she's upset can cause significant damage. Not only can she move animate and inanimate objects, but her capability for destruction is greater than she can realize.

To make things even more complicated, her blood is revealed to have extremely powerful properties. When she starts training in combat, she inevitably bleeds a lot. Vesemir soon realizes that wherever her blood drops fell, rare flowers bloomed. These could be key for the creation of more witchers, a dark art that was lost when Kaer Morhen was attacked in Geralt's youth.

As it turns out, Ciri's abilities come down to her Elder Blood. According to The Witcher wiki:

"A genetic program initiated by elven mages (known as sages) for the purpose of creating an extraordinarily gifted child whose power would exceed their own. According to the prophecy of the elven diviner Ithlinne, the Child of Elder Blood will one day save the elves from annihilation. However, the last carrier of Aen Hen Ichaer, Lara Dorren aep Shiadhal, bonded with a human instead of an elf, thus shattering all plans regarding her offspring."

Ciri is mostly human, but Season 2 reveals she has elven blood, making her an extremely gifted child, and perhaps the key to saving the elves. However, many consider Elder Blood cursed, as it can give an infinite capability for destruction.

Triss, a powerful sorceress in her own right, was frightened of Ciri's powers, apparently for good reason. Ciri can become the vessel of extreme damage, as became obvious when the Deathless Mother possessed her. While Yen's help and her own strength allowed Ciri to overcome the Mother's influence, one thing was made clear: Ciri could be made into a weapon of destruction if captured by the wrong people. Elves, mages, and humans would all be interested in powers like her own.

That being the case, Yennefer and Geralt have a hard road ahead if they're going to keep her safe. We expect Season 3 to further explore Ciri's powers and their implications for everyone in her world.
