Fans will still get to see Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher Season 3 but the next season will finally introduce Liam Hemsworth as the White Wolf. In addition to that, the show's executive producers assure fans that the transition between the two actors will be "flawless."
The Witcher Executive Producers Explain How Geralt's Transition To Liam Hemsworth Will Be Dealt With
Steve Gaub and Tomek Baginski recently spoke to Yahoo UK about Geralt of Rivia's future and the executive producers pointed out that the third season will give Henry Cavill a proper send-off of sorts.
Gaub stated that The Witcher Season 3 is "a very strong season for Henry, a great final run for him as Geralt."
"I think he left with his head held high and passing the reins as many franchises end up doing, passing a title character from one actor to another, and we're going to be in great hands with Liam," he continued.
"We're looking forward to the new explorations of Geralt with a new person behind it, a new actor and a new face," Gaub added.
Baginski agreed, sharing that Cavill did an excellent job in the third season.
"I don't want to get too emotional, but it was a great journey to have Henry Cavill on this show and we will miss him," he said.
"But, at the same time, we have a very, very good plan to introduce our new Geralt and our new vision for Geralt with Liam," Baginski continued.
"It's very lore accurate," he added. "It's very close to what was set out in the books and I think this change will be quite flawless."
Baginski concluded that "it will be a new Geralt, it will be a new face for this character and I think it will also be very, very exciting to see."
It's certainly going to be an interesting change indeed and we're eager to see what Hemsworth can do. In the meantime, we're looking forward to Cavill's final stint as Geralt later this week.
The first volume of The Witcher Season 3 will premiere on Netflix on June 28, 2023.
The second set of episodes will then begin streaming on July 27, 2023.
