A lot is happening in The Pitt Season 3, from major cast changes to hospital role shakeups.

The acclaimed series’ third season will see the exit of Supriya Ganesh’s Dr. Samira Mohan following a chaotic residency and an ongoing search for a different medical program.

Fan-favorite Victoria Javadi (Shabana Azeez) will also leave the ER department to take up a psychiatry rotation.

Now, Ayesha Harris has been promoted to a series regular, and her role as Dr. Park Ellis may replace a major doctor in The Pitt Season 3.

Dr. Park Ellis

The Pitt Season 3 has already started production, meaning the cast changes are officially set in stone.

Of course, major cast members will return, while Ayesha Harris now steps up, moving from the night shift to a daytime position.

Playing the role of Dr. Park Ellis, she is a senior emergency medicine resident who has already appeared in the show’s first and second seasons as part of the night team.

While her new position is a welcome change for the series, there are theories that she may replace another ER senior resident, Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball).

Langdon was caught stealing drugs from patients in Season 1, thanks to the help of Dr. Santos (Isa Briones).

While he returned to work after rehab in Season 2, his relationship with Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) has never been the same.

But aside from potentially replacing Langdon, she could instead be called to work in the ER due to whatever disaster the new season may feature.

This could mean she would remain a night shift resident and only help the day team, considering the show covers a single day per season.

And knowing how Ellis tends to keep her nose out of her co-workers’ personal lives, such as Dr. Santos and Dr. Garcia’s (Alexandra Metz) romantic innuendos, it will be interesting to see how she works with Dr. Robby’s team.

The Pitt Season 3 is expected to continue its trend of featuring a single extended shift in the ER while crafting high-stakes stories told in real time.

After Season 2 moved the timeline to a major U.S. event like the Fourth of July weekend, the new outing may follow a similar approach by featuring another holiday, such as Thanksgiving.

In fact, it has already been revealed that the season will take place in November “to incorporate colder weather into storylines.”

The second season ended with Robby planning his sabbatical amid a mental health crisis. Executive producer R. Scott Gemmill has since teased that the show will continue this storyline into Season 3.

“He certainly had some stumbles. Robby has a long way to go to heal himself, and he hasn’t really even started the sabbatical, which is a double-edged sword. It could be very good for him to go away, but I think he is a little suicidal, and that’s got a lot of people concerned,” he told Deadline. “But he’s also a grown man, and there’s only so much we can do. So, the big question at the end is: Is he going to go, and if he does, is he going to come back?”

However, fans may witness a more troubled Robby in the upcoming season due to the impact of his mental health struggles on the workplace. At the same time, this could also serve as part of his character growth.

The Pitt Season 3 is slated to premiere in January 2027 on HBO Max, while Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available to stream.
