The highly anticipated first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has leaked online following its exclusive theatrical release.
After the box office and awards success of Oppenheimer, Nolan is currently working on The Odyssey as his next film. It is based on the ancient Greek poem by Homer and features a star-studded cast.
Did The Odyssey Teaser Trailer Leak Online?
The teaser trailer for The Odyssey has leaked on social media, following its exclusive release in theaters.
As long-time fans of Nolan know, he always has a penchant for releasing a short teaser of his upcoming film a year before its release.
However, they usually don't release online, as Nolan prefers his first teaser trailer to be a theatrical exclusive, before it becomes available on social media and video-sharing websites.
With the existence of smartphones, it has become easier for teaser trailers to leak online, and fans who didn't watch it in a theater can also access it.
So far, Universal Pictures has not announced plans to release the teaser trailer online, despite early leaks.
What Happened in The Odyssey Teaser Trailer?
According to reports, the teaser trailer for The Odyssey is only around 30 seconds long, given that production is still ongoing.
The footage started with a shot of a dark ocean with the narration, "Darkness. Zeus’ law smashed to pieces. I’m without a king since my master died. He knew it was an unwinnable war. And then, somehow, he won it."
Then, they showed Tom Holland as Telemachus talking with an unnamed character played by Jon Bernthal.
He said to Bernthal's character, "I have to find out what happened to my father."
Bernthal's character said loudly to the people in the room, "Who has a story about Odysseus? You? You have a story? Some say he’s rich. Some say he’s poor. Some said he perished. Some said he’s imprisoned."
The trailer closed with Matt Damon's Odysseus lying on driftwood in the sea.
