The Witcher season 4 is one of the most controversial shows to unravel, especially considering that fans are still in disbelief over recasting Henry Cavill for Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia. A recent interview details how Liam handled the online backlash amid season 4's release.

How Has Liam Hemsworth Been Handling The Witcher Season 4 Recast Criticisms?

Replacing Henry Cavill's Geralt is a glaring difference for The Witcher season 4, but fans need to be reminded that they're not the only ones on the receiving end of the overhaul. Even Liam Hemsworth is, too.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hemsworth broke his silence about taking over the role. He's stated that he, too, is a "massive fan of Henry's" and "what he did in the show", but still, he acknowledges the fans' feelings over the adjustments.

"There was quite a bit of noise, and I had to put that aside. It started to become a distraction," Hemsworth explained to the news outlet, "I dealt with that sort of thing in the past a lot and, you know, at the end of the day, I love making movies and I love telling stories and acting."

Hemsworth added the one thing that kept him away from dealing with fans' online criticisms: "I just don't want any of that to affect my way of telling the story that I'm trying to tell. I jumped off social media and the internet most of last year."

What to Expect from Hemsworth's Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher's Future?

As for what fans can expect from The Witcher season 4, it will pick up "after the battle with Vilgeforz."

"[Geralt is] not in a good place at that point, physically. He's severely injured," Hemsworth detailed, "Mentally, he's dealing with things that he's not used to, which is self-doubt and this frustration. Now, all of a sudden, you're seeing the very human side to this person, but what you're also seeing is the determination to fix it."

The Witcher is set to finish the series with a fifth and final season sometime in the future, which gives Hemsworth plenty of episodes to embody Geralt.

Though the recast will likely continue to receive countless backlashes, defining the series and the story it wants to tell are the most crucial things that they should really focus on committing to at this time.

In the meantime, fans can expect The Witcher season 4 to air on Netflix on October 30. Stay tuned!
