The Mandalorian Teaser Trailer Released at D23

Lucasfilm's finally released the very first teaser for Star Wars: The Mandalorian today.

There's been a lot of excitement building up over The Mandalorian the past few days. In an interview made earlier this week, showrunner Jon Favreau promised fans that the show would focus on the "darker, freakier side of Star Wars," saying that his series wouldn't be afraid to showcase the "Mad Max aspect of Star Wars."

Now, we finally have the new trailer for The Mandalorian, and it's pretty wild. Sure, the teaser doesn't give away too much in terms of story, but we get to see a lot of action in what seems to be a pretty desolate wasteland where stormtrooper helmets are seen being decorated bloody and dusty on top of spears.

There's a lot of action from The Mandalorian himself - though we never really get to see his face in the teaser. We do get to see shots of individual characters do, like Giancarlo Esposito's supposed former Imperial, Carl Weathers' supposed job hunter, and a young girl which we take to be the rumored child that the Mandalorian takes care of in the series.

We also get to see another person being frozen alive in liquid carbonite - an indication that Han Solo wasn't the only one to have that kind of experience.

"Bounty hunting is a complicated profession," says Werner Herzog's character.

A new Star Wars live-action series created by Iron Man director Jon Favreau for the launch of Disney's upcoming streaming site, Disney+, The Mandalorian tells the story of a lone warrior and his adventures across the outer rim. Game of Thrones actor Pedro Pascal is set to play the part of the lone Mandalorian Warrior in the upcoming series, and he is to be joined by esteemed television actors like Giancarlo Esposito from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Gina Carano from Deadpool, Emily Swallow from Supernatural, Nick Nolte from Down and Out in Beverly Hills, Omid Abtahi from American Gods, and Carl Weathers from Rocky and from the Predator.

The series has also gathered quite a number of prominent directors for its various episodes, including Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels showrunner, Dave Filoni. There's also Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Taika Waititi.

Here's the synopsis for The Mandalorian:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is set to release along with the official launch for Disney+ on November 12, 2019.
