The Mandalorian Receives a Total of 15 Emmy Nominations

HBO's Watchmen may be leading with the most nominations at the 2020 Emmys, but Disney+'s The Mandalorian has managed to nab an impressive number of nominations as well.

According to the official Emmy website, The Mandalorian has received a total of 15 Emmy Nominations including Outstanding Drama Series. Besides that it also got Outstanding Guest Actor for Giancarlo Esposito's Moff Gideon as well as Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance with Taika Waititi's IG-11.

Besides that, the show also got nominations for Outstanding Production Design, Outstanding Prosthetic Make-Up, Outstanding Visual Effects, Outstanding Cinematography, Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, and a lot more. You can check out the full list here.

I have to say, even when it comes to the Academy Awards, Star Wars is usually only revered for technical achievements like VFX or music, but it's amazing that Mando was able to land a nomination for Best Drama. Then again, I don't really think it deserves to win that category, but it's a good sign that properties like this can be considered ‘artistic' and worthy of notice when it comes to the Emmys.

Personally, I think Taika Waititi just did okay with IG-11, and I'm kind of surprised he got a nomination out of it. I mean, where's the Emmy for Will Arnet for BoJack Horseman? I know she also regrets getting cast in the role, but Alison Brie deserves something for playing Diane Nguyen.

We don't know how many Emmys Mando will win, but in the meantime, fans wait for the second season's arrival on Disney+ this coming October.
