The Legend of Zelda voice actress Patricia Summersett has finally broken her silence about her potential role in Sony Pictures’ live-action adaptation of the iconic Nintendo game.
Summersett has voiced the wise Hylian royal in English since 2017’s Breath of the Wild, followed by other games including Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.
While it remains to be seen if she will also voice the magical kingdom’s princess in the Ocarina of Time remake, which is coming in November, fans also wonder whether she could be part of The Legend of Zelda movie.
Is Patricia Summersett in the Live-Action The Legend of Zelda?
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, Patricia Summersett talks about voicing the female lead character of the game, including the possibility of reprising her role in its upcoming live-action movie.
“I couldn’t answer that one way or another. Of course, I’m a walking NDA, sort of on the nomad land of the world,” she told Variety.
Some voice actors have joined the live-action adaptations of their projects, such as Merle Dandridge reprising her role as Marlene and Ashley Johnson, who voiced Ellie, becoming her character’s mother, Anna, both in HBO’s The Last of Us.
“I love it when they do that for voice actors for sure and I hope that becomes a thing that is always implemented in the future as all the technologies sort of meld and video games want to be more like film and film wants to be more video games,” Summersett continued. “That acknowledgment is lovely, but I couldn’t say one way or another.”
While the 43-year-old didn’t confirm her possible role in The Legend of Zelda, she didn’t deny it either. That said, there may still be a chance that fans will see or hear Summersett in the upcoming movie adaptation.
What to Expect From the Live-Action The Legend of Zelda?
Game creator Shigeru Miyamoto revealed more about the highly anticipated live-action The Legend of Zelda movie during the game’s recent dedicated Nintendo Direct.
From its official title, which is the same as the game’s, to the stories and concepts it would draw from, more information about the film was revealed.
“The title is... The Legend of Zelda,” Miyamoto said (via IGN). “Once you see the film, you'll understand why there isn't a subtitle.”
The film will feature an original concept based on the game’s “many stories, ideas, and concepts” built up over the past 40 years.
“Through the creative power and visual expertise of the talented production team, it's become an artistic work worthy of the Legend of Zelda series,” he continued. “Both the development team at Nintendo and I are also involved, of course!”
Miyamoto also teased the possible involvement of the Triforce, the sacred fictional golden artifact from the video game series that can grant any wish to the person who touches it.
“What role do you think it'll play in the film? We'll share more details at a later time, so please look forward to it,” he added.
The live-action The Legend of Zelda movie is set to hit theaters on April 30, 2027.
