In case you missed it, Fox has just cancelled the Marvel drama series The Gifted which already has two successful seasons under its belt. Not surprisingly, fans are devastated that they will no longer be able to follow their favorite mutants.
According to Variety, the network pulled the plug on The Gifted as well as the Little Rel Howery comedy Rel, which has only released one season. It is believed that The Gifted is just one of the shows that needed to be cancelled after Disney acquired Fox earlier this year. The show was produced by 20th Century Fox Television, which is now a part of the House of Mouse.
The cancellation was truly shocking for fans who immediately took to social media to air their disappointment.
Some blamed Fox for the cancellation.
Not surprisingly, some had pretty awesome ideas about what should happen next.
Natalie Alyn Lind, who plays Lauren Strucker on the show, had a sweet message about saying goodbye to her beloved character.
The second season of The Gifted ended in February but fans have been hoping that the series would be renewed for yet another season. After all, Season 2 concluded on a cliffhanger as Blink returned saying that she had something truly important to tell everyone. Perhaps she was trying to warn them that the series was about to be cancelled.
Although no plans have been confirmed just yet, fans believe that Disney could be planning a new mutant series that will air on their own streaming service in the coming years.
