A-Train has been one of the main villains of The Boys since the very first season, but Season 4 has had him become a leak in The Seven working for MM.
With the Deep and Noir figuring out that A-Train is the leak, they went straight to Homelander with the information. While everyone was expecting HL to explode and go after A-Train, he surprised everyone and started getting teary about A-Train’s betrayal. So what’s up with that?
Why Does Homelander Cry When He Realizes A-Train is The Traitor?
In The Insider's latest episode, Homelander gives up on letting Butcher and his Boys live, sending the Deep and Noir to go after them. While it did seem like Butcher and Starlight were done for, A-Train suddenly pops up and helps fight off the Seven.
With A-Train having been made, he quickly escapes and relocates his entire family before the news can get to Homelander. We don’t know when exactly Homelander found out, but we do see him in the Seven meeting room being consoled by Firecracker:
But Homelander HATES A-Train… Right?
It’s funny that Homelander should get all emotional about A-Train betraying him because he has spent a good chunk of the previous season just fat-shaming and threatening A-Train—and the fans haven’t forgotten.
They’ve come out online with the receipts:
It was only a matter of time before A-Train eventually started acting against Homelander, and this season finally has it all coming to fruition with him being the insider for Butcher and the Boys and outright saving them when the Deep and Noir came to take them out.
What’s In Store for A-Train and the Rest?
With one episode left of The Boys, they can close the book on A-Train for a while, like they’ve been doing with Maeve since the last season. If someone is going into hiding, the show ensures they remain hidden.
By any means, the Boys already have everything they need from A-Train, and the show has a lot of loose ends to wrap up with a bunch of different characters. Now all The Boys are teamed up with a batch of the supe virus that could be enough to kill Homelander; and on The Seven’s side, Homelander has lost Sage and is just surrounding himself with “yes men” in the form of Firecracker, The Deep, and Black Noir.
It’s possible that Sage will eventually turn over to the other side or merely side with Victoria Neuman, but it does feel like things are done between her and Homelander.
As for Neuman, Hughie also made one Hail Mary visit to see if he could get her to vote against Homelander. While it did seem that she was set on going to bed with the nasty politicians, it’s possible that the show is leaning in on the idea that she could change her mind.
Then again, this is The Boys, and the odds of her having a change of heart only heightens the possibility that she could get the virus instead of Homelander. What else would Season 5 be about without one final clash with HL?
