Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys has been well-reviewed since its first season, but the recent season four has many people complaining that the show has started to lose its edge and is showing signs of decline.

It is too bad for the naysayers because Eric Kripke’s superhero satire series seems more popular than ever.

The Boys Season 4 Earned 55 Million Viewers

According to The Wrap, the fourth season of The Boys has exceeded 55 million viewers since its premiere in June—that’s said to be 20% more than viewership from the previous season.

Regarding countries enjoying The Boys, 60% of the audience is said to come from outside the US, with solid viewership in countries like the UK, Brazil, India, Germany, Canada, Spain, Italy, Mexico, and France.

The show has reached No. 1 on Prime Video in over 170 countries and is the fourth most-watched series in Amazon’s catalogue. When it comes to series from other streaming services, though, The Boys is still behind Netflix’s Bridgerton CBS’ Your Honor (which is also streaming on Netflix).

The Future of Vought International

For now, The Boys is expected to end with its final fifth season, expected to come out in 2026. Amazon MGM Studios TV head Vernon Sanders told The Wrap about the series ending:

“This is all about [creator] Eric Kripke. We’ve had this incredible success because of his vision and execution, and he’s told us for a while that he believes this really should be a five-season series. Of course, we asked him, ‘Are you really sure it can’t go on for more?’ And he gave it some thought but came back to his original vision for this, so we want to honour that… Similarly, if there’s more to this universe, which would we love, that’s ultimately going to be about him leading the path there.”

For now, The Boys has two spinoffs: an animated anthology show called The Boys Presents: Diabolical and a series called Gen V, which follows the super-powered students of Godolkin University, a training ground for young supers before they get ready to enter the big leagues.

There have also been reports of a spinoff series tentatively titled The Boys: Mexico, with Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal attached as producers. However, there hasn’t been any major update on that show yet. It is worth noting that the writer behind the series, Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, is the same scribe behind DC’s Blue Beetle film.

It’s also said that one more spinoff will be announced in the world of The Boys, but neither Amazon nor Eric Kripke has given an official update.

No official release date has been announced for The Boys Season 5 yet, but fans can expect it to be released sometime in 2026. In the meantime, they can check out the complete fourth season of The Boys on Amazon Prime Video.
