DC fans have waited over a year for The Batman to drop new footage and Matt Reeves, along with stars Zoe Kravitz and Robert Pattinson did not disappoint as they teamed up at the DC FanDome for the world premiere of the upcoming superhero film's second trailer.

The new trailer gives us an extended look at Reeves' version of Gotham City which according to him was made more grounded in the film. The two main baddies Penguin and Riddler are also heavily featured in the teaser wreaking havoc across the city. However, they may not be the only villains from Batman's rogues gallery to make appearances in the film.

Some fans even believe that they've spotted the iconic Batman villain The Joker in the latest trailer for the upcoming DC flick which will take place outside of the "main" DC Extended Universe timeline. One scene from the trailer sees Batman talking to a mysterious Arkham inmate who tells him that he's been trying to reach him. We don't exactly see who it was but a lot of people are under the impression that it's in fact the Joker he's interrogating.

Is The Joker in The Batman?

Batman is synonymous with the Clown Prince of Crime so of course, the idea of the Joker being featured in Matt Reeves' series of films isn't exactly out of the window. You know it's going to happen at some point. However, I don't think the guy Batman was talking to at Arkham was actually him. If anything, it's probably Edward Nygma he's talking to.

Some fans may be on the fence about it but honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing The Joker make his way to Matt Reeves' Bat-Universe. I mean, sure, we've seen several iterations of the character the last five years alone but you can't deny the fact that a Batman story isn't complete without the legendary comic book villain.

The Batman is scheduled for release on March 4, 2022.
