The Acolyte Season 1 Finale Kills Off Master Sol
The first season finale of The Acolyte titled "The Acolyte" saw the shocking death of Jedi Master Sol (played by Lee Jung-jae).
The moment happened during a heated confrontation (preceded by an awesome lightsaber battle) that took place in Brendok when Sol confessed his killing of Mother Aniseya in front of Mae and Qimir.
Sol justified his action as the "right thing to do" after learning that Mae and Osha are the same person and were created through Force vergence and wanted to protect them. However, he regretted that he only chose to save Osha.
Little did he know, Osha was listening to his confession. She confronted him about why he was lying to her throughout the years. Sol explained by saying that he wanted to protect her as the Jedi would not have allowed him to train her since she was too old at that time.
Fueled by anger, Osha killed the Jedi Master by Force-choking him. She also corrupted the Kyber crystal in his lightsaber as it turned red.
After Qimir, Osha, and Mae escape, Vernestra and the Jedi Knights arrive at the scene of the crime and discover Sol's corpse.
Vernestra decided to cover up the truth to the Senate when she returned to Coruscant and blamed Sol for the events in Brendok and the killing of the other Jedis. She also claimed that he took his own life.
While some fans may have expected Sol to face his death in the finale, it's still a shocking twist considering that Osha was responsible for his demise and it sets up her path to the dark side.
Despite Sol's questionable morality and being the culprit in Mother Aniseya's death, he was still a beloved character and there's no doubt that fans will miss his presence in the second season.
All episodes of The Acolyte season 1 are streaming on Disney+.
