The premiere episode of The Acolyte put its spin on the iconic Star Wars opening crawl that sets up the premise of the story to the viewers.
The new series is breaking new ground for the Star Wars franchise since it is the first major project that is set in the High Republic era, a timeline that has never been explored before in live-action.
However, The Acolyte is still using the familiar Star Wars elements to tackle the brand-new mythology that they are exploring while also doing their version of some of the franchise's traditions such as the opening crawl.

The Acolyte Premiere Has Its New Spin on the Opening Crawl
The premiere episode of The Acolyte began with its version of the opening crawl which sets up the High Republic setting of the story.
The major difference between the series' version and the ones that we've seen in the theatrical films is that The Acolyte doesn't have the traditional scroll as the text doesn't move on the screen.
The series' version of the crawl is mostly a description of its High Republic-era setting, giving the viewers an idea that it is not set in a familiar timeline that we've seen in past Star Wars live-action projects.
Here's what was written in The Acolyte's opening crawl:
A hundred years before the rise of the Empire, it is a time of peace. The Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic have prospered for centuries without war.
But in the dark corners of the galaxy, a powerful few learn to use the Force in secret.
The opening crawl is usually reserved for theatrical films, but we've seen recently that the live-action shows have started to embrace the tradition beginning with the first episode of Ahsoka.
Considering that the series is set in the High Republic era, you could argue that it is necessary to include an opening crawl in its first episode to inform the viewers that this is set a hundred years before the Skywalker Saga.
This also lessens the exposition that they need to do as they don't have to explain the unfamiliar setting in the series proper.
It is curious to see what other iconic Star Wars traditions the series will do in the rest of its run.
