The Acolyte showrunner Manny Jacinto revealed that he was not aware of Darth Plagueis' cameo in the first season finale before its airing.

The fan-favorite Star Wars villain made a brief cameo appearance during the recently aired season finale, setting up him as a potential major figure in the second season.

A lot of fans were delighted to see Plagueis show up in the episode as it was a surprise reveal regarding one of the show's mysteries and it promises an exciting storyline that could lead to the events that we've seen in the prequel trilogy.

In a recent interview, Jacinto revealed that he was not aware of Darth Plagueis' cameo appearance in The Acolyte season 1 finale before it aired.

He explained that, when he watched the first season in advance months ago, the moment was absent, and he did not consider the idea that he might show up.

"I did not know that that was going to happen. I saw all eight episodes months ago, and that specific moment was blacked out and I never thought anything of it. I was like, 'Okay, it was just unfinished CGI or something,'" the actor said.

"And then it wasn't until the finale that I just watched that I see that moment come to full fruition and I was like, 'What?!'"

Jacinto has no idea yet what Plagueis' cameo will entail in the second season, but he is excited to explore the implications of his appearance.

"So I need to talk to Leslye [Headland] and see what are the implications of this roommate that I possibly have. I have so many questions just like you, if that's the case. I mean, it was always rumored with fans, but I am experiencing it just like a viewer," he continued.

So far, it is unclear whether Plagueis is Qimir's Sith Master or rival, but his cameo sets up an exciting storyline for the second season and perhaps even explores how he became Palpatine's master.

Before we hype ourselves for the second season, let's hope first that Lucasfilm and Disney+ will announce a renewal soon so that we can see the teases in the first season finale come to fruition.

All episodes of The Acolyte season 1 are streaming on Disney+.
