The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City once again shone brightly as numerous A-listers walked the red carpet for Met Gala 2025. However, one of the most talked-about celebrity couples was noticeably absent: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
Since their major public appearance at the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans this past February, Swift and Kelce have kept a low profile and have rarely been seen together.
As curiosity and speculation grow—with some suggesting they may have broken up—here’s the real reason Tayvis didn’t attend Met Gala 2025.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Both Have Busy Schedules
Despite receiving invitation to fashion’s biggest night, TMZ reported that Swift and Kelce failed to make it to the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”-themed event due to "scheduling conflicts."
The pair has been enjoying their downtime after the end of the NFL season and the mega-successful Era’s Tour.
But though the singer-songwriter, who’s one of the world’s best-selling artists, hasn’t been spotted in weeks, the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end was seen in New York earlier this week in a photo shoot.
He also went to a boys’ night out in Las Vegas with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Timberlake.
Had Swift and Kelce attended Met Gala 2025, it could have been their debut as a couple at the prestigious event.
It would have also been the hitmaker’s return after nine years, following her last attendance in 2016. At the time, she was still a co-chair at the “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology”-themed gala.
For Kelce’s part, he has never been to Met Gala.
Enjoying Their Time Together
Amid the rumors that Swift and Kelce have broken up, sources revealed they’re still very much together and enjoying their private time.
“They have been traveling nonstop and very much enjoy it,” a source told People. “They are making the most of their time off together. They are hanging out with friends, too. It's a special time for them.”
The two have also remained “very serious and in sync” when it comes to their relationship.
“They value the same things. Right now, the focus is very much on private time out of the spotlight,” the insider continued.
What’s Next for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift?
Swift and Kelce were first linked in 2023 and sparked a media frenzy by frequently being seen together.
Since then, the 14-time Grammy winner has become a fixture at Chiefs games over the past two seasons.
Despite the team’s major loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, which ended their hopes for a three-peat, Kelce has vowed to return to the field.
“I’m coming back, for sure,” Kelce told McAfee in a text read on-air. “Gonna try and get to the best shape I’ve been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop. Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and how I got the guys ready for battle. I can’t go out like that!!!!”
As this happens, he will be entering his 13th NFL season.
The pop phenomenon, alternatively, has been taking her much-deserved time for herself after the end of the Eras Tour in December 2024.
