There's no doubt that anticipation is high for Taika Waititi's future Star Wars movie, given that he's no stranger to the galaxy far, far away. While most details about his film remain unknown, the director offers an update for those who are looking forward to what's to come.
In a recent interview with BBC News, Waititi confirms that he's already working on his Star Wars feature. "We're just writing. We're writing." His response is short, but it's no surprise for fans that Waititi is being coy about it.
"This is you: Here's a question… Star Wars?" the filmmaker joked with the interviewer. "How am I supposed to answer that? Yes."
It's clear that while he's on the stage of production where he has already started writing the film, details about what he plans to do is tightly kept under wraps. That said, it's good to know that Waititi's already working on the movie. He previously revealed that he'd love to helm a Star Wars film if it was "right," if it "made sense" and if it didn't feel like "career suicide," so it's safe to say that this movie is in good hands.
Waititi revived the Thor franchise with 2017's Ragnarok, add the fact that he directed and starred in the first season of The Mandalorian, he'll most likely add some flare and a new spin to the franchise.
The upcoming movie is yet to have a release date, but it's interesting to see which corner of the Star Wars universe Waititi will be exploring for his film.
