Marvel fans might expect Thor: Love and Thunder to put the spotlight on Jane Foster after Marvel revealed Natalie Portman's new role as Mighty Thor, but it looks like the main star of Thor 4 is actually going to be Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth).
Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi recently attended this year's Toronto International Festival, and there the filmmaker was asked about his next Marvel project, Thor: Love and Thunder. Though the director decided to keep a bit mum on Thor 4 saying that he was still on page seven of writing the script for the film, he did decide to clear up one thing about the project – Thor is going to be Love and Thunder's lead star.
During the interview with the entertainment news outlet, Waititi specifies who exactly is set to lead Thor 4, Hemsworth or Portman.
"It's [Chris Hemsworth]. It's a Thor film. He is Thor, it's a Thor film. She's in it," the director explained.
This new reveal might come as a bit of a surprise to fans. Everyone expected Thor to take to the sidelines, thinking that Love and Thunder would focus on Jane Foster's version of the Asgardian God of Thunder. Of course, we can still expect Foster to take on a substantial role in the film. There's a whole lot of excitement building up on Jane Foster's Mighty Thor, and Marvel isn't likely to disappoint its fanbase.
We can't wait and see how Jane becomes worthy to take on the name of Thor in Love and Thunder.
Thor: Love and Thunder premieres November 5, 2021.
