Most people would probably do anything to get Chris Evans' attention. But would you crash an interview and almost destroy the entire set? That's exactly what Taika Waititi did and he doesn't even seem sorry because he got to hug the Avengers: Endgame actor.
Waititi shared a video from Toronto International Film Festival which shows Evans and the cast of Knives Out being interviewed. However, the interview is interrupted by the Thor: Ragnarok director who wanted to go up to Evans. As he tries to get closer, Waititi accidentally takes down the backdrop of the interview. Nevertheless, he persists and gets a hug from Evans.
"Hey @ChrisEvans, remember at #TIFF19 when I destroyed the #KnivesOutMovie interview set trying to give you a cuddle?" Waititi wrote before adding the hashtags #menace and #destructinator.
It's a hilarious video and we can't really blame Waititi for wanting to cuddle with Evans. We're just hoping that the set got fixed so the interview could continue. In addition to that, this could be a sign that Waititi and Evans should work together on a new project.
Waititi was at TIFF to promote his film Jojo Rabbit, which was given the People's Choice Award at the film festival. The black comedy defeated Joaquin Phoenix's Joker, which was expected to take the top prize.
Meanwhile, Evans' Knives Out has also been praised at TIFF. Needless to say, it's an interesting direction for Evans after playing Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films for several years.
Jojo Rabbit will premiere on October 18. Knives Out is scheduled for release on November 27.
