Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 delivered several major revelations, from what the Upside Down actually is to Will’s (Noah Schnapp) coming out. However, it also left many questions unanswered that fans fear may not be resolved with only one episode remaining.
So, here are the five questions fans desperately need answered before Stranger Things Season 5 ends.
Why is Henry Afraid of the Cave?

Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1 introduced the Nevada cave, where a young Henry Creel (Raphael Luce) first encountered Dimension X (the Abyss) and where Max (Sadie Sink) later hid.
In Volume 2, a traumatic scene involving Henry was revealed, showing him trying to help a wounded man, only to be shot by him. What followed was an unexpected turn of events, as Henry bashed the man’s head with a rock and stole his briefcase.
While fans who have seen Stranger Things: The First Shadow know what really happened, it would still be nice to see the moment play out on screen – revealing why Henry fears the cave, who the man he killed was, and what was inside that briefcase.
Why Did the White Goo Stop Pouring and Solidify?

After Nancy (Natalia Dyer) shot the exotic matter with her shotgun, she and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) became stranded in a room in Hawkins Lab within the Upside Down.
They soon found themselves lying in a white goo that covered the stairs they had used to climb to the roof.
The substance began filling the room around them. But the moment they jumped onto a desk and discussed their relationship – ultimately breaking up, with Jonathan un-proposing – the goo suddenly stopped rising and started to solidify.
So why did it stop, and why did it harden? Hopefully, Volume 2 will provide some answers.
What Were Kali and Hopper’s Plans All Along?

Hopper (David Harbour) once again made fans fear for his life when he entered a secret room in the military den in the Upside Down with a bomb strapped to his chest in Volume 1.
While it initially appeared to be a heroic attempt to save Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), sacrificing himself to kill Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) on his own, it now seems he may be planning something he doesn’t want El to know about.
As for El’s sister, Kali (Linnea Berthelsen), also known as Eight, she is trying to convince El to sacrifice herself to stop Dr. Kay (Linda Hamilton) from creating more super-powered individuals.
After learning that her blood was used on pregnant women to produce more test subjects like them, continuing Dr. Brenner’s (Matthew Modine) work, Kali believes this is the only solution.
While her intentions may be good, is there another reason she wants Eleven dead? Hopefully, this question will be answered in Volume 2.
Why is the Upside Down Stuck on November 6, 1983?

The Upside Down is essentially stuck, becoming a static copy of Hawkins on November 6, 1983.
It was the same day Eleven opened the primary gate and Will (Noah Schnapp) disappeared, creating a parallel dimension that mirrored that specific moment and received no updates due to the lack of life within it.
While the exact reason why it remains frozen on that date is still unknown, many hope it will be explained in the Stranger Things Season 5 finale.
Where is the Mind Flayer?

The Mind Flayer may have been defeated at Starcourt Mall in the Stranger Things Season 3 finale, but it made an implied appearance in Season 4 Volume 2 after the Upside Down began to destabilize, hinting that remnants of it may still linger.
While it hasn’t appeared yet in Season 5 Volumes 1 and 2, it has been mentioned by Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) when explaining the Upside Down’s connection to The Abyss, which he believes houses the Demogorgons, Demobats, and the Mind Flayer itself.
Given that Henry has had run-ins with it before and it is believed to be the true villain behind Vecna, will it make an appearance in the series finale?
Hopefully, these questions will be answered when the Stranger Things Season 5 finale drops on December 31 on Netflix.
