Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming UFO movie, Disclosure Day.
Featuring an A-list cast led by Emily Blunt, the film appears to mark a return to the close-encounter themes that helped define the acclaimed director’s career.
With little known about the project so far, here’s everything we know about Spielberg’s return to the alien genre in Disclosure Day.
What is Disclosure Day About?

While the official storyline of Disclosure Day has yet to be revealed, with the film having been shrouded in secrecy prior to the release of its trailer, it appears to explore what might happen if evidence of extraterrestrial life were made public and how society would react to it.
Produced and directed by Steven Spielberg himself, the film is based on his original idea, with a screenplay by David Koepp, a frequent collaborator, and a musical score by the legendary John Williams, another longtime creative partner.
As hinted by the trailer, the movie may delve into a global revelation, or a so-called “disclosure event.”
By the looks of it, Disclosure Day isn’t just an alien invasion story; it seems more focused on humanity’s encounter with the unknown.
Who’s in the Cast of Disclosure Day?

Disclosure Day boasts an ensemble cast, with Emily Blunt leading as a Kansas City TV weather anchor whose character name has yet to be revealed.
She is joined by Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell. The cast also includes Elizabeth Marvel, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Michael Gaston, McKenna Bridger, and Elliot Villar.
Viewers will also see appearances by Tommy Martinez, Patricia Conolly, Noah Robbins, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Lance Archer, Brian Cage, and Gabby Beans.
Is There a Trailer for Disclosure Day?
The trailer for Disclosure Day offers more insight into the film while still leaving viewers with more questions than answers.
By the looks of it, the footage is intentionally elliptical, prioritizing tone and striking set pieces over clear plot beats. It opens with a flock of goats staring at a house where Josh O’Connor’s character is staying.
“If you found out we weren’t alone – if someone showed you, proved it to you – would that frighten you?” a woman’s voice asks in the background as a chilling score plays.
As a bird approaches and perches on Emily Blunt’s table, she is later seen delivering her weather broadcast until she suddenly loses the ability to speak, producing strange clicking noises and gagging sounds.
“People have a right to know the truth,” O’Connor’s character suggests. “It belongs to seven billion people.”
These moments imply that O’Connor knows something others do not and is pushing for a “full disclosure to the whole world all at once.”
From there, a series of unsettling events unfolds, including crop circles, animals behaving unusually, and a series of mysterious visuals and abrupt cutaways.
The trailer closes with a nun posing a haunting question, “Why would He make such a vast universe, yet save it only for us?
When will Disclosure Day be Released?
After being announced in April 2024 and completing production in May 2025, the marketing for Disclosure Day began this December with a mysterious billboard.
The image features an upside-down eye composited within the silhouette of a perched Northern cardinal, set against a black background, and has appeared in various locations.
The billboard carries the tagline, “All Will Be Disclosed,” and reveals the film’s new release date of June 12, 2026 – a month later than its initially scheduled premiere on May 15, 2026.
