Star Wars Fan Receives Excessive $750 Fine By Police for Small Stormtrooper Sticker

Earlier this month, Star Wars fans were shocked after hearing the news that Lethbridge police had forcefully taken down a woman dressing up as a Stormtrooper because she had with her a prop blaster gun.

Now it seems like the hammer of the law has descended on another Star Wars fan.

According to a report by 7 News, an Adelaide motorist was pulled over by the police and forced to pay a $750 fine because of his Star Wars sticker. Star Wars fan Corey Armstrong was pulled over by the police at Regency Park on Thursday.

Asked to exit the car, the motorist was then made to pay a fine for his Star Wars sticker on the number plate.

"They noticed the number plate had a small sticker on it with a Storm Trooper helmet on it that replaces the standard piping shrike," Armstrong told the news outlet. "This, I was told, was defacing the number plate and I was given a $750 fine and a defect notice."

Seven hundred fifty dollars for a small Star Wars sticker seems like a steep fine for something so seemingly inconsequential. According to the Star Wars fan the sticker could have been removed easily – besides the sticker, nothing about the government-provided plate had been tampered with.

Unfortunately, the SA police don't feel the same way. Even a tiny sticker can be considered an obstruction of a number plate, and thus the fine.

What do you think? Was the $750 fine excessive? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
