Star Wars: Episode IX Theory Suggests Zorri Bliss Is Connected To The Jedi

The new poster for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker may have revealed Keri Russell's Zori Bliss as part of the Light Side (or at least an ally of the Resistance) in the third and final entry in Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy, however, there's still much to know about the new Star Wars scoundrel.

What kind of scoundrel is Zorri Bliss? Is she really Rey's (Daisy Ridley) mother as some fans speculate?

A new Star Wars fan theory suggests that Zorri may actually be Star Wars' version of Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider videogame franchise. According to a post on Reddit, not only does Zorri's role in The Rise of Skywalker seem to mirror Lara Croft's but her costume also seems to be etched with the "old tongue," the ancient language of the Jedi.

"Look at her costume and zoom in to see some kind of ‘language etched on her… belts?" the theorist writes. "Around her torso and her… golden metallic armbands. The language looks familiar with the ‘old tongue' language that appeared in Rebels show."

This language has never been given an official name in Star Wars canon. It has, however, appeared in many different Star Wars mediums, including Star Wars Rebels. Fans can see it on Jedi Temples. They've also seen it on the walls of the Sith Temple on Malachor.

What does this mean for Zorri? Is she connected to the Force? Is she a Force user? Maybe she really is Rey's mother? Or could she simply be a scoundrel raiding Jedi and Sith temples?

Let's wait and see.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
