Marvel's War of the Realms event has officially starter and the first issue ends with a bang. We all knew that this would be an epic story that would likely lead to some deaths but no one expected characters to start dying in the first issue, especially someone who has been a major part of the comic books and the movies.
Then again, this could be a nod to Avengers: Infinity War. Who knows?
SPOILERS FOR WAR OF THE REALMS #1
With both Thor and Odin captured by Malekith's forces, the Dark Elf and his army of frost giants attack Earth, where heroes like Spider-Man and The Avengers attempt to stop them. Just when it seemed like things were looking bad, Loki shows up and opposes his frost giant father Laufey, telling the heroes that they need to step up and rescue Thor while they're at it. Honestly, it's a great speech.
So what happens after? Laufey eats Loki. Yup, the frost giant ended up eating his son, ending the comic in a horrific and shocking manner.
Does this mean Loki is permanently dead? Doubtful. The character has been killed before, like in Siege where The Sentry ended his life, so knowing the villain, he probably has something up his sleeve. We don't know what that is yet but this end would be too simple for Loki.
Made for one hell of a moment though.
